Today we researched and watched videos about the Jewish holiday, Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement). We reminded ourselves that it is the day that Jews think about the things they may have done wrong in the year and how they can fix it. On this day Jewish people say sorry to God and ask for his forgiveness as well as their friends and family. It is also a day Jews tell people how much they love others. Adults also fast.
To celebrate the end of our topic we took part in a class collective worship. During our collective worship we said a prayer about forgiving one another, read a piece of scripture from Matthew 18:21-23 and linked it back to the teachings of Yom Kippur, thought about what we may be sorry for and asked God for forgiveness. We ended our collective worship singing, ‘We come to ask your forgiveness, Oh Lord’.
