Chestnuts class news!
This week is Well-being week! The children have been learning about the importance of taking good care of their bodies. Reception made a fruit kebab using their favourite pieces of fruit.
The children practised ordering their numbers from 1-20 independently this week.
Week beginning 21st June 2021
The children have the opportunity to practise their cutting skills each day, today we cut out desert pieces for our bowl of ice cream.
Chestnut class put on a fantastic class assembly this week, they have been working so hard , practising their lines and speaking loudly to their audience.
This week the children have been brushing up on their positional language skills, they listened to a set of instructions and replicated a model.
Week beginning 14th June 2021
Our children have been busy learning the importance of friendship, they spoke about the importance of saying sorry and even performed a Role-play scene.
We went on a fantastic local area walk on Wednesday and Thursday and visited famous Barking landmarks including Bobby Moore way and Abby green.
Reception have been practising their directional language using their beebots , they even learnt their left from their right.
Week beginning 7th June 2021
We are reading 'what the ladybird heard'.
The children created their own ladybird to
retell the story.
We are learning about friendship and the
importance of treating our friends with
respect and kindness.
Reception have been playing 'match my quantity' in Maths.
The children worked in pairs to match their partners quantity
and recall their doubles.
Week beginning 17th May
Reception are having fortnightly virtual farm visits! We spoke to Hollie the farmer about her Dairy farm.
The children created 'hero' capes for EAD this week , they customised their capes with various types of materials.
Reception went on a listening walk around the school today! We wrote about the noises we heard.
Week beginning 10th May
In Maths we have been looking at addition number stories.
Reception have been making their own prints using potatoes and stamps.
We created a swamp in our tuff tray, we loved playing with the crocodiles and other swamp animals.

Our children looked so fantastic in their traditional outfits today!
We had an international week buffet! We ate a range of food from all around the world.
After an amazing African dancing workshop , we repeated a tune on the African drums.
Week beginning 30th April
Our Caterpillars are spinning their cocoons! We cant wait to meet our new Butterfly friends.
We love construction in Reception, we have been building 3D shapes.
We have been repeating patterns in maths today.

Our speech link sessions are going well, we are learning to use lots of descriptive language.
Reception have been talking about the importance of dental hygiene this week.

We made our own Mothers day cards this week.
We made our very own Easter headband this week.

We are so excited to be receiving our caterpillars after the half term! We have been learning all about the lifecycle of a butterfly this week.
We are busy growing cress this week! We also been looking at what plants need to healthy.
We grew some class plants this week.

The children really enjoyed roleplaying a classroom setting this week.
The children in Chestnut class have been busy practising writing their tricky words.
