This week, Year 6 have been embarking on an exhilarating journey through a wide range of subjects, demonstrating both enthusiasm and a remarkable dedication to their studies.
In English, our focus has been on the enchanting world of "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them." The children have showcased their creativity by crafting engaging non-chronological reports about magical beasts, utilising ambitious vocabulary that has truly impressed us all. Their ability to articulate complex ideas in writing is commendable and reflects their engagement with the text.In Mathematics, we've continued to deepen our understanding of place value, focusing on negative numbers, rounding, and number lines. This foundational knowledge is proving essential as we prepare for future mathematical challenges.
In Science, students have been preparing for an in-depth exploration of the circulatory system. They crafted insightful research questions that will guide their study, promoting a strong sense of inquiry and allowing them to approach the topic with confidence and curiosity. Our Religious Education lessons have been equally thought-provoking as we explored God's redemptive plan for humanity. Students engaged in a rich comparison of the Creation Story and the Incarnation of Jesus, managing to discuss these sensitive topics with maturity and depth. In History, students conducted a case study on the ancient Kingdom of Benin, thoughtfully analysing how life differed in this rich culture prior to colonisation. Their insights and reflections demonstrate a high level of interest and effort.
Also this week, our ProStrike event was a fantastic success, where children showcased their powerful football skills, fostering a sense of teamwork and sportsmanship across the year group.
As we continue this new term, we are immensely proud of the maturity and determination our Year 6 students exhibit every day. We look forward to celebrating their achievements and progress as learners!
