27.02.24 Sticky ice - Today the children got an opportunity to make ice stick on a piece of thread.

6.02.24 Paper spinners - today the children made spinners to understand air resistance.

23.01.24 This week we spoke about Sound and the names do different wind instruments. In relation to that we made, pan flutes using straws.

16.01.23 Our KS1 children enjoyed learning about flowers and how they bloom by carrying out a lovely experiment.

Welcome to a our KS1 Crest Club members.

Our pupils who have successfully completed the Crest tasks and won certificates and badges for the same.

05.12.23 In our stem engineers made 3D Christmas tree models. They decorated colourful 3D Christmas tree using simple techniques.

28.11.23 This week we looked at engineering and tried different ways of building towers balancing cups on lollisticks.

21.11.23 We looked at surface tension, by doing an experiment using pepper and washing up liquid.

14.11.23 Today we made tissue paper worms. A simple experiment to understand the concept of ‘absorption’ and ‘expansion’. The children enjoyed the experiment and observe their tissue worms grow in size.

31.10.23 Paper gliders - To understand ‘ Air resistance’, children made paper gliders using simple materials.

Phenakistoscopes— Today the learnt to make an optical illusion discs based on an early animation invention called a “Phenakistoscope.” It is built on animation concepts and demonstrate how frames per second help animations create the "illusion of movement”.

10.10.23 Thaumatrope - Developed in the early 19th century, Thaumatropes are an optical toy and one of the earliest forms of animation. Today the children created theses toys to understand the illusion of motion that seemingly have drawings blend into one.

Magnetism - Children learnt about magnets and its forces. They conducted a simpler experiment and used magnets to help understand this concept

Moving water - Our scientists having been looking how water moves from our cup to another. They conducted a simple experiment using water, tissue and food colouring. It was lovely to see the patience and excitement while they conducted this experiment.

Crest Club - Welcome to the new members of the Crest Club. CREST Club helps to bring a new sense of curiosity and discovery to students to help them engage in science.

As part of our STEM curriculum our KS2 children are taking part in the CREST Awards. CREST helps children become independent and reflective learners through enquiry-based project work.

 

Whilst taking part in the awards our children will plan their enquiries, hypothesis, change variables, think carefully about fair testing and gather their findings in a variety of different ways. When the children complete their enquiry based projects they will become 'CREST SUPERSTARS'.

 

This week the children investigated paper helicopters.

26.06.23 - As part of our STEM curriculum our KS2 children are taking part in the CREST Awards.
