After, learning about the types and changes in Stone Age Tools, the Year 3 students acted as their favourite Stone Age Tool for the class to guess.
Year 3 have been enjoying the topic Through the Ages in History. This week thye were introduced to the Palaeolithic, Mesolithic and Neolithic periods and made a timeline reflecting this.
Year 2 have enjoyed learning about significant people in History, they have created a timeline and even role played Christopher Columbus' adventures
Year one have finished their ‘Victorian school days’ topic. They ended the topic by having a Victorian day. The children dressed up as children from the era and had day filled with Victorian games, food and dancing. The children were fully immersed in the experience and even wrote on black board with chalk. Year one learned all about the similarities and differences between life now and then.
For their final innovate project children pf Year 4 gained a historical perspective by placing their growing knowledge into different contexts: understanding the connections between local, regional, national and international history; between cultural, economic, military, political, religious and social history; and between short- and long-term timescales. They enacted an interview to display their knowledge.
In groups, Year 2 made board games based on their learning about Magnificent Monarchs. They designed fact cards about notable royal residences and about positive and negative impacts some of their studied monarchs had on Britain. Then, they added movements such as ‘move forward two spaces’ or ‘move back 4 spaces’ to accompany each fact. The children then designed the playing board and added squares such as ‘The roll of Destiny’, where the player can roll the dice and move forward the number of spaces they roll. Then, they decorated their boards and played their games.
The children of Year 6 completed their innovate project for their 'Britain at War' module in the Lord Ashcroft Gallery. The gallery is home to 250 war heroes, all with either a Victoria Cross or a George Cross. The children were tasked with researching servicemen and servicewomen from WW1 or WW2 to form a collection of remembrance to share with each other.
For Year 3's final innovate project, the children worked in groups to give a presentation about Boudicca, how the Romans treated her and the power struggle between the Celts and the Romans.
Year 4 Topic on Invasion - Roman Empire and its impact on Britain.
