WB23.09.24 This week the pupil voice children have been discussing ways we can encourage Friendship and kindness in our school.
Welcome to our newly elected Pupil Voice 23-24. The Pupil Voice team at St Josephs' Primary School are a team of dedicated, organised and proud children ranging from Year 1 to Year 6. The selection of the Pupil Voice children happens at the beginning of each academic year. Two children from each class in years 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 are elected from a range of nominees. The elected children run regular meetings in their classes. The team meet up regularly and the meetings are facilitated by Mrs Correa. We develop our school and ourselves by discussing ideas and making decisions, whilst respecting everyone’s views and opinions. We work together, ensuring our school is the best place it can be. We aim to make all pupils in our school feel happy and safe.

1.12.23 With the start of Advent, the pupil voice children went around to judge the best Christmas hoops made by each class. No doubt it was a tough decision and the competition was fierce. Fingers crossed for our future winners.
17.11.23 This week we observed Anti-Bullying Week. The pupil- voice children organised the week with several activities in school and also conducted an Anti-Bullying whole school assembly on the theme- Make a noise about Bullying. They were reminded strategies of how to approach and why it is not acceptable at St Josephs. The children were also given prizes for their lovely Anti-Bullying posters, which are proudly displayed in our school.
Pupil voice conducted a discussion in their classes
This week the children shared their vision about the school and what they want to learn when they leave the school. They also discussed on how to celebrate Anti-bullying week. The children came up with interesting ideas on how we can spread awareness about bullying.
'What is our Vision when we leave the school?', a question discussed by the children in their classes.
This term the pupil voice discussed the key question ‘ Do you think we do enough recycling in school.’ The pupil voice children help discussions in their classes and will be soon sharing it in their group meetings.
06.06.23 This week onwards our year 5 and year 6 have been selling ice lollies as a part of school fund raising. The children did a fantastic job selling ice lollies and managing the stall.
05.06.23 This week the children came up with lovely ideas for fund raising. We discussed about ice lolly sales and cake sales. In addition they suggested a school talent show, to encourage different talents in our school.
02.05.23 This week our pupil voice children discussed about their learning in school. They discussed how they enjoy the new curriculum and it has helped deepen their knowledge about different subjects. As a group they discussed ways of how they can display their class work to their friends.
19.01.23 This week the children enjoyed the food tasting event, along with the parents. It was lovely to see the parents asking questions to the pupil voice, about the food and giving their helpful suggestions.
13.12.2022 The Pupil Voice children got an opportunity to judge the winners for the Christmas Hoop competition. They had to score and make tough decisions to choose winners. Well done to all the classes for making such beautiful Christmas hoops.
08.12.22 Today the Pupil voice children were given an opportunity to meet the school caterers and discuss the school menu. They addressed their likes and dislikes and also gave suggestions about food that can be added to the menu. The children also took part in a very informative discussion about why we have to have certain foods on the menu so that we can remain a healthy school. .
21.11.22 The children worked together to discuss how we can change our Mission statement. They also came up with their suggestions about what aspects need to be added to the Mission statement.
17.11.22 Daren Rodwell Visit - Today pupil voice got to meet Darren Rodwell, they had an opportunity to ask him lots of questions and share some of the things they would like to see in Barking. He even invited them to the Town Hall for a tour.
12.09.22 Pupil voice Welcome meet — A big welcome to our ‘Pupil Voice’ children. On our first meeting we discussed about the expectations and their roles as an important member in school.
