Year of St. Joseph
Pope Francis established a "Year of St. Joseph" so that "every member of the faithful, following his example, may strengthen their life of faith daily in the complete fulfilment of God's will."
"Saint Joseph reminds us that those who appear hidden or in the shadows can play an incomparable role in the history of salvation.’' Pope Francis (8th December 2020)
St. Joseph's celebrated the Feast of St Joseph on Friday 19th March.
This was an especially important date in 2021, as it is ‘The Year of Joseph’.
This day was dedicated to St. Joseph. We learnt about St. Joseph and his life, we created artwork based on The Dream of St. Joseph by Philippe de Champaigne and created St. Joseph focal areas in our classrooms. Fr Stephen Myers kindly said mass for many schools in our community. We were able to attend this St. Joseph's Feast Day mass virtually.
We used the example of St Joseph to celebrate all the ‘silent heroes’ who have been working so hard over the past year to care for and serve others like the adoptive father of our Lord, Jesus, did.
We made thank you cards to key workers who live and work in our local communities to thank them for all their hard work this year in keeping the country running smoothly.
