Week beginning 4th November 2025
In Autumn 2, Year 2 children explore the RE topic "Prophecy and Promise," learning about how God's promises were shared through prophets and fulfilled in the birth of Jesus. We listened to the story of the Annunciation from Luke’s Gospel, where the Angel Gabriel visits Mary to tell her she will have a special baby named Jesus. The children reflected on how Mary showed trust and faith in God’s promise.
Children used freeze frames to retell How to Find Gold by Viviane Schwarz, expressing key moments through facial expressions and body language. Their poses captured the excitement, curiosity, and determination of the characters, helping them sequence the story in a fun and creative way.
Year 2 had an absolutely fantastic day exploring the great outdoors at Eastbrookend Country Park! Our adventure began with pond dipping, where we discovered a fascinating variety of pond creatures — from wriggly water beetles to slippery pond snails! Next, we tried our hand at birdwatching, spotting graceful swans gliding across the water and cheerful coots paddling nearby. In the peaceful woodland area, we paused to close our eyes and listen carefully to the sounds of nature — birds singing, leaves rustling, and the gentle breeze whispering through the trees. To finish off our day, we had so much fun playing and laughing together in the playground before heading back to school with big smiles. What a magical day full of learning, laughter, and nature!
