Week beginning 24th November 2025
Our Year 2 children have started an exciting new topic in Geometry. This week, we learned all about 2D shapes and practiced counting their sides and vertices. It’s been a fantastic start to our journey into the world of shapes!
This week, we were thrilled to welcome author Banji Alexander to our school. He taught us an important lesson: great writers read! The children learned why reading widely helps us become better writers and explored ways to make reading a daily habit. We ended the session on a high note with a fun sing-along of his song “New King”, which everyone loved!
Our Year 2 geographers took their learning outdoors this week! We carried out a fieldwork activity to gather real-world data about the number and types of vehicles passing by St. Joseph’s. The children worked in teams to record their observations carefully. Back in class, we used the data to create graphs and analyse patterns, discussing what we discovered about traffic in our local area. It was a fantastic way to bring geography to life!
