This week has been packed full of learning adventures that sparked creativity and collaboration! In English, our budding writers have been expanding their creative writing skills. We have focused on characterising speech, challenging students to make their dialogue more engaging and realistic. Additionally, learners have been modifying verbs and nouns to enhance their descriptions and create vivid imagery in their narratives. We also delved into the structure of a heroic myth, encouraging students to understand the essential elements that make these stories captivating.

In Maths, we tackled  division with great enthusiasm. Students were introduced to long division, a skill that can often be daunting. However, through collaborative group work and guided practice, they successfully learned how to break down complex problems into manageable steps. By applying their knowledge of factors, students began to see the connections between various mathematical concepts, significantly boosting their confidence and problem-solving abilities.

Science brought a sense of wonder as we launched Space Week with an inspiring assembly that focused on technology used in space exploration. The assembly not only showcased incredible innovations but also got students excited about the possibilities of future careers in science and technology. Following this, Year 6 members designed their own inventive concepts to be used by NASA, providing them with a platform to apply their learning creatively while engaging in critical thinking and design processes.

As we celebrated the start of Black History Month, our history lessons were deeply enriching. This week, we focused on the remarkable life of Bernie Grant MP. Students engaged in rigorous research, crafting biographies that highlighted his significant contributions to society. Moreover, they created pencil sketches inspired by the talented artist Kelvin Okafor, enriching their artistic skills while exploring themes of representation and history.

In PE, excitement was in the air as Year 6 honed their netball skills through various drills and practice matches. The students demonstrated impressive teamwork and sportsmanship, emphasising the importance of collaboration. In addition, they took part in a strength circuit designed to promote physical fitness and resilience, successfully pushing themselves to achieve new personal bests.
