We have had a busy and meaningful week of learning!

In Maths, students continued their work on fractions, learning how to add and subtract fractions — including mixed numbers — with different denominators. They confidently applied their knowledge of multiples and factors to support their calculations. In English, the children deepened their study of Pig Heart Boy by exploring Cameron’s character in more detail. They examined the highs and lows of his emotions and began adapting a model text to help them craft powerful and thoughtful diary entries. During History, the class learned about the different ways enslaved African people resisted and revolted against their enslavement, sparking important discussions about courage, resilience and injustice.

On Tuesday, students observed Remembrance Day through a live assembly that explored the importance of honouring those who gave their lives. Inspired by their learning, they created moving poems and designed their own Remembrance Day medals.

To end the week on a bright note, Year 6 proudly wore their spotty yellow outfits and donated generously in support of the Children in Need foundation.

As part of Anti-Bullying Week, students took part in an assembly introducing this year’s theme, Power for Good. They enjoyed engaging activities in class, including role play, to explore the different ways they can use their personal power positively. What a wonderful week of learning, reflection and community spirit!
