Students returned to school, rested and enjoyed another exciting week filled with rich learning experiences.
In Maths, we began exploring equivalent fractions before moving on to comparing and ordering them. Students confidently used their understanding of factors to simplify fractions and explain their reasoning. In English, we were introduced to our new class text, Pig Heart Boy. After reading the opening chapters, students used role play and discussion to explore Cameron’s emotions and understand how his feelings influence his decisions — a great foundation for the diary writing to come.
In RE, we continued our work on influential women in the Bible, focusing on figures from the Old Testament. Students created their own Hall of Fame posters, reflecting on each woman’s story and the lessons we can learn from them today. In Art, the children completed their landscape paintings with care and creativity, while in Science, they continued learning about the circulatory system. They measured their resting heart rate and compared it to their heart rate after exercise, drawing conclusions about how the body responds to physical activity.
To finish the week, students took part in a lively and competitive PE lesson and proudly completed their current phonics unit in French. It’s been a productive, creative, and reflective week in Year 6. Well done, everyone!
