We are so proud of our Year 5s who performed so beautifully at our annual carol service, well done!
In science, we worked together to apply our knowledge on forces and research how cyclists overcome friction when racing. We then created informative posters.
In maths, we used strips of paper to help us subtract mixed numbers where the fractions had different denominators.
In geography, we used rulers and atlases to find the relative distances between different cities in the UK. Using the scale on the map, we converted the centimetre distances to kilometress.
In English, we succeeded in a direct speech quiz and became experts! We then applied our knowledge to add speech to a range of images from our focus text 'Odysseus'.
In science we have been observing the effects of air resistance. We made our own parachutes and explore how air resistance help the parachute slow down.
In maths, we faced the challenge if diffusing a stink bomb before it went off in the school office! We had to do this by adding fractions correctly in order to find out what order to cut the different coloured wires in.
Today we we very lucky to have a visit from ROM skatepark. Rom is located on the boundary of the London Boroughs of Barking & Dagenham and Havering. We learned all about skateboarding, how to stay safe and even got to see some cool tricks!
Today we had the pleasure of meeting a famous author called Banji Alexander! He read some extracts from some of his books to us, told us about his inspiration and let us ask lots of questions.
To celebrate the jubilee, we had a day of fun activities: making decorative bunting, creating thank you cards for the staff at Barking Town Hall, singing songs and attending mass.
Today, the police came to visit us! We got to learn lots of interesting information about their careers and even got to try on some uniform.
In English, we've been unpicking sentences in depth to see that ever word counts.
In computing, we've been learning about the different camera angles and shots used in video.
Year 5 celebrated Odd Sock Day, The day is celebrated by wearing mismatched socks to promote individuality, kindness, and acceptance.
Recently, we've been exploring square numbers in maths, to begin with, we used unifix cubes to build the squares in order to check the numbers.
In science, we have been exploring the relationship between weight and mass.
In geography, we’ve been exploring ordnance survey maps, using keys to identify different human and physical features.
In Smart School Council, we've been thinking about the positive impacts we can have on our school.
We participated in a range of activities for Remembrance Day, including writing acrostic poems, identifying the significance of the four different colours of poppies and designing a medal for a veteran.
To round up our history topic on dynamic dynasties, we prepared and presented our very own podcasts to accurately share information on how the Shang Dynasty ended.
