It has been an incredibly productive and high-energy week of learning across all subjects! In English, we launched our new text, Alex Rider, which serves as the exciting backdrop for our focus on newspaper reports; students have been busy deconstructing the genre to master formal features, cohesive linguistic devices, and the crucial distinction between fact and opinion. Our mathematicians have been equally focused, tackling the relationship between decimals, fractions, and percentages by mastering equivalents and the technical skills needed for accurate conversions. In Geography, our "Frozen Kingdoms" expedition continued as students researched the biodiversity of the Arctic and Antarctic, producing detailed posters that highlight animal classification, food chains, and the environmental threats facing these fragile habitats. To round off the week, our new Environmental Art topic inspired some truly moving work; after sketching animals and discussing human impact on nature, students participated in a brilliant sculpture workshop where they used wire-work techniques to bring their 2D sketches to life in three dimensions.
