Welcome back to Year 6! We have just completed our first full week of the new term, and I am delighted to report that everyone has settled in beautifully. The children have shown remarkable enthusiasm, and it is heartening to see them re-engaging with their learning. One of the highlights of our week has been the introduction of our new text, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. The children have been captivated by the imaginative world it presents, and they are already brimming with ideas as they prepare to write their own non-chronological reports. The activities not only encourage creativity but also strengthen their writing skills as they structure factual information in an engaging way.
In Maths, we have initiated our learning on place value, where students are deepening their comprehension of numbers and their significance. It has been gratifying to observe their engagement during lessons, as they participate actively and collaborate with one another to solve problems.
In Science, we took the opportunity to revisit our prior knowledge about bodily systems, with a specific focus on the circulatory system. The lively discussions and hands-on activities have really helped reinforce their understanding, and it has been wonderful to see their curiosity come alive. Students eagerly shared insights about how the heart functions and the significance of blood circulation in maintaining health.
Turning to our Religious Education lessons, we embarked on an enlightening study of the Gospel of John. The children have been exploring the themes and narratives within the text, fostering thoughtful discussions about its relevance today. Their ability to connect these teachings to real-life situations has been a real strength.
Overall, it has been a fantastic start to the term, with excellent contributions to discussions and assemblies. I am incredibly proud of the perseverance and enthusiasm exhibited by everyone after the summer break. Let’s maintain this momentum, Year 6, and continue to support one another as we embark on an exciting journey of learning and growth together!
