This week, Cherry Tree class wrote independent narratives, in which they were the main character who was whisked off on an adventure by their favourite animal. As we move into non-fiction writing, the children analysed various examples of non-chronological reports to identify the features they would need to use, and began to research and map out their own non-chronological reports on gorillas. We spent some time discussing how to research using reliable resources and how to use the information we find to plan and make notes. In maths, we have moved onto addition and subtraction and are approaching the introduction of the column method to our learning. In science, the children investigated their joints and mobility by using cardboard boxes to limit their ability to bend their joints, and see how that affected their movement. Several of our children headed to a cross country competition at Eastbrook School, where they ran just over a mile with 100 other children. Every child finished in the top 50% with one of our children finishing in the top 10 - an excellent effort! In computing, the children learned about different input and output devices, and in they continued to practice their information retrieval skills in reading. What a busy week!
