This week, Year 2 began reading shape poems! We wrote our own poems about shells and explored Mr Underbed, focusing on similes and rhyming words. It was a creative and fun way to develop our poetry skills!

This week, Year 2 spent time praying outdoors to celebrate our RE topic on Creation and Covenant. We thanked God for the world and all the special things in it, reflecting on the beauty of nature and the importance of caring for it.

We were thrilled to welcome the London Fire Brigade to our school this week! Sandra from the LFB visited Year 2 and Year 5 classes to deliver an engaging and informative session on fire safety. Pupils learned a wide range of important facts, including how to safely exit a building during a fire, the importance of smoke alarms, and what to do in an emergency.

The children were fascinated by the real-life stories shared by the firefighters and had the opportunity to ask lots of thoughtful questions. Year 2 especially enjoyed learning about the protective gear firefighters wear, while Year 5 explored fire prevention strategies and the science behind how fires start. It was a memorable experience that not only educated but inspired many of our pupils. A huge thank you to the London Fire Brigade for helping us stay safe and informed!
