Week beginning 23rd February 2026
This week, Year 2 have been exploring the idea of algorithms as part of their new Computing topic. The children learned that an algorithm is simply a set of clear, step-by-step instructions. They worked with partners to give and follow instructions carefully, testing whether their algorithms were accurate and easy to understand.
Year 2 have begun their new Art topic, Flower Heads. This week, the children explored chrysanthemums up close, creating observational drawings that focused on detail, texture, and patterns. They carefully studied the shapes of the petals and the intricate structures within each flower, using their sketching skills to capture what they saw.
In Maths this week, Year 2 have been developing their problem‑solving skills using their knowledge of odd and even numbers. The children explored patterns, answered challenges, and used reasoning to explain how they knew whether numbers were odd or even. They also applied their understanding to real problems, checking their answers and sharing their thinking with partners.
