Week beginning 2nd March 2026

What an amazing World Book Day! Year 2 came dressed as so many wonderful characters — from brave heroes and magical creatures to favourite storybook friends. The effort, creativity and excitement were fantastic to see. Everyone looked brilliant and truly brought their books to life.

The children had a wonderful time taking part in a Very Hungry Caterpillar workshop with Mr Hicklin. After enjoying the story and exploring all the delicious foods the caterpillar eats, the children got hands-on and made their own colourful fruit kebabs, just like the hungry caterpillar enjoyed in the book! They carefully selected different fruits and threaded them onto skewers, creating bright, healthy treats. It was a fun and engaging activity that encouraged healthy eating while bringing the story to life.

As part of our Plant Survival science topic, the children explored the seasonal plants in our outdoor area. They carefully observed the different plants growing around us, discussing how they change with the seasons and what they need to survive. The children talked about sunlight, water, soil, and space while looking closely at leaves, stems, and flowers. It was a wonderful opportunity to learn about nature through hands-on exploration and curiosity in our outdoor environment.

In our RSHE lesson, the children discussed the significance of good and bad secrets. We talked about how some secrets, such as surprises for birthdays, can be happy and safe, while other secrets that make us feel worried, uncomfortable, or unsafe should never be kept. The children explored who they can talk to if they are unsure about a secret and were reminded that it is always okay to speak to a trusted adult for help.
