A huge welcome back to Year following the Christmas break! St Joseph's was happy to see you return and how you propelled yourself back into your learning so seamlessly. In English, we explored our new text - The Ice Bear by Jackie Morris. We discussed the themes and use of Inuit mythology, before delving deeper in researching polar bears for a non-chronological report. We used our Chromebooks and a technique called dictogloss to set out our initial research. Linked with this, we started our new Geography topic of 'Frozen Kingdoms', in which we put ourselves in the boots explorers on a polar expedition to write a report on the conditions and way of life in the Arctic and Antarctic. Our new maths topic is Ratio, so we have the opportuinity to use our multiplication and fraction skills for a new domain. In Computing, we have started to look at data collection, by comparing manual and digital methods our collating and presenting a set of data. For PE, we are revisiting basketball, we a focus on tactical awareness and strategy. For a short week, we have achieved so much, and with plenty more to come it will be an exciting term!
