Week beginning 27th January 2025

Year 2 have been learning all about Chinese New Year and the traditions that make this festival so special! This year, we are celebrating the Year of the Snake, and the children have been busy crafting their own colourful paper snakes to mark the occasion. Through this activity, they explored the meaning of the Chinese zodiac, learned about New Year celebrations, and had fun developing their cutting, folding, and decorating skills. The classroom is now filled with wonderful, slithering creations!

Happy Chinese New Year from Year 2! 🎊🐍✨

Year 2 have been busy investigating the different uses of paper in their science lesson this week! The children tested various types of paper to see how strong and absorbent they were. They carried out fun experiments, including soaking, tearing, touching different papers, to find out which ones were best for different purposes. Through their hands-on testing, the children discovered why kitchen roll absorbs water, cardboard is strong for packaging, and tissue paper is soft and delicate. They made predictions, recorded results, and discussed their findings like real scientists!

Fantastic work, Year 2!

Our Year 2 students have been busy designing and creating their very own windmills as part of Energy Saving Week! Using simple materials like paper, straws, and split pins, they explored how wind energy can be used as a sustainable power source.
