Week beginning 21st October 2024

This week, in collective worship, we celebrated the conclusion of our *Creation & Covenant* topic by reflecting on the beauty and meaning of the Creation story. We listened attentively, considering how we, as caretakers of God's creation, are called to cherish and protect the world around us. Inspired by the story, we reflected on practical ways to honour our role as stewards of the Earth and discussed ways we can actively care for nature in our daily lives. Together, we embraced the message to "go forth and look after God's creation" with renewed purpose and commitment.

In science this week, we conducted an experiment to explore how easily germs can spread and transfer onto surfaces when we don’t wash our hands properly. Using glitter to represent germs, we observed how the "germs" spread throughout the classroom, transferring onto multiple surfaces and even to each other. This visual demonstration helped us see firsthand the importance of thorough handwashing to prevent the spread of germs in our daily lives. It was a powerful reminder of how quickly germs can travel when we aren’t careful!

In English this week, we dove into the world of poetry, focusing specifically on shape poems. We explored and recited a variety of interesting shape poems, using expressive facial expressions and body language to bring each one to life. This helped us understand how poetry can be visual as well as verbal, making the words even more impactful. By performing the poems with emotion and movement, we gained a deeper appreciation for how poetry can convey feelings and ideas in creative ways.
