Week beginning 23rd September 2024
Year 2 had an exciting visit from Sandra, a firefighter from the London Fire Brigade! She taught the children all about fire safety, including how to stay safe if a fire ever happens. Sandra explained how to safely escape, where to go once outside and who to call in an emergency (999). The children also learned a catchy rhyme to help them remember to stay safe: 'Matches and lighters, please do not touch, because it can hurt you very, very much!' The session was both fun and informative, helping everyone feel more prepared to handle fire emergencies.
Year 1 and Year 2 had a delightful afternoon in the school library, engaging in peered reading. The Year 2 children teamed up with younger ones, sharing stories, exploring new books and helping each other develop their reading skills. It was a lovely experience as they built confidence, bonded over their favourite tales and fostered a love for reading in a supportive and fun environment.
We have been learning about estimating numbers on a number line in Maths. We looked closely at the start point and end point of blank number lines and plotted numbers on the number line.
