Week beginning 10th March
Year 2 has been exploring the amazing world of plants and the different places they grow! We have learned about hydroponic plants, which grow without soil, aquatic plants that thrive in water, and even epiphytes, which grow on other plants without taking nutrients from them. Through exciting investigations and hands-on activities, we discovered how plants adapt to their environments in unique ways. Our learning has truly deepened our appreciation for the natural world!
As part of British Science Week, Year 2 took part in an exciting investigation about camouflage and survival! We hid small pieces of thread in the grass, each representing different-colored caterpillars. Then, pretending to be hungry predators, we searched to see which colors were the easiest to spot. This fun activity helped us understand how real caterpillars use camouflage to stay safe from predators. It was a fantastic hands-on way to explore science in action!
Year 2 had an incredible time exploring the depths of the ocean through an exciting VR experience! With our headsets on, we dived beneath the waves to discover fascinating sea creatures, from graceful turtles to shimmering shoals of fish. We learned all about different marine animals and their habitats, seeing the underwater world up close like never before. It was an unforgettable adventure that brought our learning to life in the most amazing way!
As part of our RE learning, Year 2 recreated the Last Supper to remember the important events leading up to Holy Week. We acted out the special meal Jesus shared with his disciples, reflecting on its meaning and significance. Through this experience, we deepened our understanding of Jesus’ teachings about love, sacrifice, and friendship. It was a thoughtful and memorable way to prepare for Holy Week.
