We started our St. Joseph's Day celebrations by attending mass as a whole school at our parish church. On our return to school, we spent the morning learning more about our patron Saint and his life. We then used the example of St Joseph to celebrate all the ‘silent heroes’ who work so hard to care for and serve others like the adoptive father of our Lord, Jesus, did. We also spent time writing 'thank you' cards to the silent heroes in our local area. In the afternoon, the children spent time looking at art work of St. Joseph, specifically The Dream of Saint Joseph by Juan de Borgona. The children then created their own versions of the painting. We concluded our celebrations by creating class altars dedicated to St. Joseph. The children spent time making lillies to decorate their altars.
