  • Leaver’s Assembly

    Thu 20 Jul 2023

It’s always hard to say goodbye. However, it is one of the indispensable things in life. Today, we gathered to say goodbye to our wonderful Year 6 students and members of staff who are moving on to begin new stages in their lives. We pray that the Lord will guide our Year 6 pupils, Mrs Brooks, Mrs Wilson, Miss Dada, Miss Ella and Miss Sharon on their new ventures. We will miss them terribly but wish them the very best of luck for the future!

  • Year 6 Trip to Imperial War Museum

    Fri 14 Jul 2023

Today the children of Year 6 had an amazing opportunity to visit the Imperial War Museum in London. They completed their final innovate project for their 'Britain at War' module in the Lord Ashcroft Gallery. The gallery is home to 250 war heroes, all with either a Victoria Cross or a George Cross. The children were tasked with researching servicemen and servicewomen from WW1 or WW2 to form a collection of remembrance to share with each other. Also, our visit provided a superb chance to view original artefacts from the world wars and take part in many interactive games and exhibits - including experiencing life in the trenches. It was a fantastic trip and Year 6 came away with a great appreciation for the changes we have today from war time living.

  • Year 6 Prom

    Thu 13 Jul 2023

The Year 6 classes of St. Joseph's showed their commitment to bowing out of primary school in style, as they stepped out onto the red carpet for their Year 6 prom yesterday evening. Everyone was dressed to impress as the Year 6's (and some of the adults) showed off their best dance moves to the tunes provided by our superstar DJ Joe Banana. The Year 6 parents also provided a delicious spread of food and drink to fuel the dancing action. With all of the fun-filled festivities and some amazing showings in the singing and dancing competitions, it proved to be a memorable evening for all who attended. A huge thank you must go to all of the wonderful Year 6 parents and the magnificent Mrs. Ocran for organising this incredible event!

  • Year 6 Celebration Week

    Wed 12 Jul 2023

Last week, the children of year 6 spent the whole week taking part in amazing activities to celebrate their achievements this academic year. Our fun-filled week started with a trip to Stratford, where we were bowled over by each others bowling talents at All Star Lanes. After a pizza lunch, we headed to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park for some outdoor fun and play. On Tuesday, we ventured to Barking Riverside and took the Uber Boat to North Greenwich. On arrival we enjoyed the sculptures on a sculpture walk before heading to the main event of the day, Toca Social. The Year 6 children showed off their footballing skills in a series of fun, interactive challenges. After this, we hit the heights and took in the views of London on a cable car trip over the Thames. If these two days weren't enough of a celebration, from Wednesday to Friday Year 6 enjoyed their incredible residential trip. With lots of amazing activities, including kayaking, climbing and bushcraft, Year 6 learned a lot of new skills. All was enjoyed while sleeping under the stars in our tents at the camp site. Overall, Year enjoyed some wonderful experiences and had a fantastic time. Well done for all of your efforts this year and well celebrated Year 6!!!

  • Year 2’s visit to Tower Bridge

    Tue 11 Jul 2023

We had an action packed day in London and the sun joined us too. The day began with a short walk to the station and a train ride into Tower Hill. When we arrived, we sat outside of The Tower of London and recalled all of our previous learning. In addition to this, we learnt many fun facts- please ask us we’re happy to share them! We then strolled along the river sight seeing the wonderful buildings. We enjoyed our lunch sat by the river then watched the bridge open. It was very exciting. The best bit of the trip was going inside the bridge and using the glass walkways to explore the views. We gained more knowledge about how the bridge was used in the Victorian times and we even explored the Engine Rooms. It was an unforgettable day for us all.

  • Brentwood Diocese Citizenship Awards

    Tue 11 Jul 2023

Each year Bishop Alan celebrates the young people in our Diocese through the citizenship awards. These awards recognise inspirational children throughout Brentwood Diocese, and a wonderful event is held at Brentwood Cathedral. This year St Joseph's nominated Dior in Year 5.

'Dior has demonstrated resilience, strength and independence whilst taking on the role of main carer for her Mum over the past year. She has remained determined and enthusiastic about her education and continues to always  think about others before herself. She is a great role model to those around her and always ensures that being kind is at the heart of how she conducts herself around school. Dior continues to serve others through her role as a Mini Vinnie at St Joseph's and has led many fundraising activities for the school. She has taken everything in her stride and Dior is a true inspiration to us all'.

Dior was thrilled to receive her award from the Bishop, and enjoyed meeting all of the other children afterwards in the beautiful gardens at Cathedral House. Well done Dior, we are so proud of you!
