  • World Book Week Monday

    Mon 28 Feb 2022

Our Book Week will focus on encouraging children to enjoy the magic and fun of reading these stories. Our aims are to raise engagement and attainment in reading and writing for all pupils. We are sure the week will be fun and enjoyable for all! The whole school focus boo is Window by Jeannie Baker.

    Monday’s Book Week Events

We began Book Week with a launch assembly. It was great to be back in the hall having Key Stage assemblies to discuss what we will be doing to celebrate book week. We collectively discussed our focus book and the events of the week. We were all very excited about what the week would hold.

Throughout the day, excitingly there was a book sale where we had the opportunity to purchase books of our choice. The children in Year 6 supported the all children to explore the books on offer and also made recommendations.

In the afternoon, we had a thrilling reading event.  We were given a range of book titles, and we had to choose one, which we wanted to hear being read. After reading the books, we engaged in book talk and made recommendations.

  • Music Day

    Thu 10 Feb 2022

Music is a universal language that embodies one of the highest form of creativity. This week, we at St Joseph, celebrated 'Music day', a day to engage and inspire children to develop a love for music and their talent as young musicians. Using the Charanga scheme, children in every year group have been taught to sing and play musically, increasing their confidence. They have been gradually developing their understanding of musical composition, organising and exploring musical instruments.

  • Safer Internet Day

    Wed 09 Feb 2022

This week we have celebrated Safer Internet Day, and this year's theme is 'All fun and Games'. The children have been learning how to stay safe online when playing games. Please have a look at the picture below of how you can help your children stay safe online.

  • Fudge's visit

    Fri 04 Feb 2022

As part of Storytelling week, Reception read a story by Enid Blyton called 'Granny's Kitten's'. Enid Blyton was a huge pet lover so, Reception spent the week learning all about Pets! They spent the week learning about what animals make suitable pets, what pets need to survive and what food they eat to grow strong and healthy. Mrs Brooks kindly brought in her pet dog 'Fudge' to Reception. The children were able to ask her lots of questions about Fudge and his needs and were even able to have a gentle stroke. Fudge was so well behaved and the children learnt so much from his visit!
