Year 3 River Roding Quay
Tue 29 Jun 2021Year 3 have been learning lots about the area they live in, including local buildings, the local park and rivers. As a year group, they went to explore River Roding Quay. First, they looked carefully at a map of the local area and planned a route to the river. Once there, they completed a local river study where plenty of vocabulary was used. They saw a tunnel, a shipwreck, boats and ducks too!

Year 2's Zumba and Keep Fit Session
Tue 29 Jun 2021Keeping active is a very important part of our well-being and in Year 2 we were fortunate enough to have a Personal Trainer come in and deliver a Zumba and Keep Kit session. We discussed the importance of exercise for our physical and mental health; the importance of warming up and cooling down and the importance of having fun with exercise.

A huge well done to Reda in Elm class, who has just donated all of her hair to the Little Princess Trust. The Little Princess Trust is a charity that provides wigs to little girls who have lost their hair through chemotherapy. Reda is an absolute credit us and we are so very proud of her for making such a big decision to help others. She is now sporting a very trendy bob!

I spy Old Barking
Wed 23 Jun 2021Year 2 were extremely lucky to be given a tour around the local area where parts of ‘Old Barking’ were identified. On the walk around, the children used their detective skills to find historic buildings and the remains of them. Once back at school, we used many historic artefacts and travelled back in time.

Farmer Time with Holly
Tue 22 Jun 2021Reception have been having fortnightly virtual sessions with Holly, a cattle farmer from Dorset. The children have had the opportunity to ask lots of questions about Holly's 650 cows. They even had a virtual tour of the milking parlour on her farm. The children have been learning all about the importance of cows milk and how it can keep our bodies strong and healthy.

Reception's local area walk
Thu 17 Jun 2021As part of their learning for local area week, Reception went on a short walk around our local area. As they have been learning all about Bobby Moore, the famous footballer from Barking, the children were ecstatic to visit his street sign 'Bobby Moore Way' just across the road from our school. After visiting the street sign, the children went on a short walk around Barking Abbey and pointed out all the things that they could see in our local area.
