    Thu 27 May 2021

The whole school celebrated Creative Week. We dressed up as 'real life' heroes, learned all about our  Covid heroes jobs and designed stamps for the NHS and Royal Mail stamp competition. All of our art work was based around the Banksy Picture - 'Game Changer - Superhero Nurse'.

  • WWF Virtual Workshop

    Wed 26 May 2021

On Tuesday 25th May 2021, both Year 6 classes participated in a virtual workshop. It was all about life on our planet Earth! During the workshop, we learnt all about the problems that is ruining our beautiful planet such as: climate change, waste, deforestation and much more. We also learnt about how to reduce and solve some of these problems as well as some interesting facts about different animals. Did you know that a tiger's urine smells like buttered popcorn? The workshop was amazing and thank you to the WWF.

  • Heroes Stamp Design

    Mon 17 May 2021

Our school is delighted to be taking part in Royal Mail’s Heroes Stamp Design Competition, honouring the heroes of the coronavirus pandemic. Eight pupils from primary and secondary schools across the UK will become the designers of this stamp set, and one could be your child!

For more than 50 years Royal Mail’s Special Stamp programme has commemorated British history and achievement. Stamps have also been issued to honour the achievements of many British people. Often, the people who appear on stamps are already famous. They include scientists and explorers, writers, artists, musicians, athletes, and Prime Ministers.

Since the coronavirus pandemic began, there have been many people who have done great things. Many of them are not famous, but they have done extraordinary work. These are the people who have helped us all through a really difficult time. Some are frontline workers in healthcare, others look after elderly or vulnerable people.

Millions of key workers have kept the country going when most of us were told to stay home for our own safety. And there have been many people who volunteered to help people in their communities who needed help or support. We think that what these people have done makes them heroes, so Royal Mail wants to honour them by producing a set of eight stamps.

The stamps will feature designs created by eight school-aged children. We are asking our young designers to think about who their hero or heroes are, and to then design a stamp in their honour. A special panel of judges will pick the winning designs. The final eight stamps will be sent to Her Majesty The Queen before they can be printed and issued.

  • May Procession 2021

    Wed 12 May 2021

May is the month of our Blessed Mother. Today, we honoured Mary, Our Mother during our annual May Procession. We honoured Mary with prayers written by our School Chaplains, flower offerings, a special crown of flowers and hymns dedicated to Mary. The children reverently lay flowers at Mary’s feet and offered up their petitions and intentions. It was a beautiful way to honour our Blessed Mother.

Year 1 have been learning all about caring for animals as part of their Science topic. Last week, they had a very exciting visit. Mrs Brooks and Mrs Bellman came to school with their dogs Fudge and Gryffindor. The children were so well behaved and asked lots of questions about how to care for a dog. Fudge and Gryffindor loved being with the children, and are hoping to visit again very soon.
