  • Easter Fun Run

    Thu 31 Mar 2022

As a part of our Easter Run run, the children were all dressed in their lovely bunny ears and tails. The Pupil voice along with the Minnie Winnies, helped Mr Campbell to organise this day for the children. They were in charge of arranging the children from different classes and encouraging them to 'keep going' while they completed their laps. The other year groups clapped, danced and cheered the children who were running. It was great to see this amount of enthusiasm amongst our children, beating the cold and sleet to complete their laps. Well done !!!!!

  • St. Joseph's Day Celebration.

    Tue 29 Mar 2022

We started our St. Joseph's Day celebrations by attending mass as a whole school at our parish church. On our return to school, we spent the morning learning more about our patron Saint and his life. We then used the example of St Joseph to celebrate all the silent heroes’ who work so hard to care for and serve others like the adoptive father of our Lord, Jesus, did. We also spent time writing 'thank you' cards to the silent heroes in our local area. In the afternoon, the children spent time looking at art work of St. Joseph, specifically The Dream of Saint Joseph by Juan de Borgona. The children then created their own versions of the painting. We concluded our celebrations by creating class altars dedicated to St. Joseph. The children spent time making lillies to decorate their altars.

  • Easter Gardens

    Tue 29 Mar 2022

An Easter resurrection garden is a symbol of Jesus rising from his tomb. They usually portray the scene that Mary Magdalene saw, a tomb with a stone rolled away on Easter Sunday. This week, so many children brought in their Easter Garden Projects to school. They are all so creative and it is clear that the children have worked so hard to represent Jesus rising from his tomb. It is a beautiful reminder of the Easter story.

  • Fundraising for Ukraine

    Thu 17 Mar 2022

The Mini Vinnies and the Pupil Voice representatives have made a tremendous effort to ensure our school can help those affected by the war in Ukraine. Together, they organised a fundraiser that allowed children to come to school in their own clothes and bring in a donation. They also sought out establishments that are collecting donations for those affected. As a result, our school community has raised an amazing £517.85 for our Ukraine appeal today! The money raised will go directly to those affected by the conflict in Ukraine. We have also had so many generous donations for the Thames Road Collection Point. They will be delivering these essential items to Poland to support families that have left Ukraine. Thank you for giving so generously!

  • World Book Day- Thursday

    Fri 04 Mar 2022

World Book Day was another action packed day that begun with us all dressed as our favourite characters.

    Book Tasting:

Children in Years 3 - 6 had great fun book tasting. In pairs the children got to choose a book from the table and complete a mini review before moving onto the next table and repeating this for four delicious book courses. The children had great fun discussing books and sharing their book recommendations.

    Reading Picnic:

To continue to promote a love of reading on Thursday afternoon the whole school went outside to take part in a reading picnic. It was lovely to see all the children engrossed in their own reading book.  The children were all given a biscuit and luckily the weather stayed nice!

  • Ash Wednesday Virtual Mass

    Wed 02 Mar 2022

All children from EYFS to Year 6 attended a virtual Ash Wednesday Service. Ash Wednesday begins the forty day season of Lent that leads to Easter. On this day, we come together to remind ourselves that we don’t always follow God’s ways and need to ask God for His mercy and forgiveness. Like God’s people in the time of the prophets, we wear ashes to show that we want to turn away from whatever keeps us from God. We come forward to receive ashes on Ash Wednesday to purify our hearts and grow in holiness so that we are prepared to celebrate Easter with great joy.

  • World Book Week- Wednesday

    Wed 02 Mar 2022

    Wednesday’s events

This afternoon the whole school took part in art and DT lessons linked to our focus book. We all looked at the images in the book and discussed how they were created. It is amazing to see the amazing art opportunities that all children can access from one book.

After school, we came back for an action- packed evening aimed at building a love of reading and promoting bedtime stories. EYFS and KS1 returned to school in their pyjamas, with a teddy and their parents to take part in a beautiful event for parents to share with their children. The evening was thoroughly enjoyable for all involve.

  • World Book Week-Tuesday

    Tue 01 Mar 2022

    Tuesday’s events

Today we had the amazing opportunity of reading with our peers.  We paired up with children in other year groups to share books. Some of the older children read to the younger ones; however, this was not always the case. Some children in KS1 were very keep to show off their phonics and reading skills.

Throughout the day all classes have also been using their English lessons to explore the book titled 'Window'. The discussions and vocabulary that is being generated is very impressive.
