  • Local Area Walk - Reception

    Fri 17 Jun 2022

Reception went on a walk around the local area on Friday to visit Bobby Moore Way and Barking Abbey Park. They have been learning about famous people from the area, so they were thrilled to learn that Bobby Moore had a road named after him. During the walk, the children were able to spot all the different features in our local area of Barking.

  • Junior Citizens

    Thu 16 Jun 2022

On Monday Year 6 were lucky enough to take part in a series of workshops provided by the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham alongside multiple public services which included the Metropolitan Police, London Fire Brigade, London Ambulance Service and TFL.

The children took part in different scenarios which gave them the opportunity to learn some invaluable life skills; such as how to react in the event of a fire in the home, identify if an offensive weapon is being carried, conduct themselves on public transport and how to check their bikes before leaving home to name a few.

All of the children had an enjoyable afternoon and remarked about how informative they found the sessions.

  • Box Up Crime Workshop - Steven Addison

    Thu 16 Jun 2022

On Wednesday, Year 6 were lucky enough to take part in a boxing workshop hosted by Steven Addison, an inspirational boxer from Barking who runs Box Up Crime.  Steven spoke to the children about how to stay motivated, follow their dreams and to never give up when things get tough.  The children were very lucky to learn the six basic boxing moves and tried these out on Steven (don't worry he had pads!)  What a fantastic afternoon that was enjoyed by all!

  • Collective Worship Wednesdays - EYFS

    Wed 15 Jun 2022

The children in Reception spent Wednesday morning in prayer with parents. The children contributed towards a short Collective Worship session and sang their favourite hymn 'If I were a butterfly'. The piece of scripture that they focused on during the session was from John 13:34. After discussing Jesus' rule to love each other,  children decided that they would 'go forth' by ensuring they show 'love' to others even when it is difficult to do so.

  • Catholic Social Teaching Workshops by CAFOD

    Wed 15 Jun 2022

We welcomed two lovely CAFOD volunteers, Margaret and Angela, to our school this week. They held Catholic Social Teaching (CST) workshops for all the children in Year 1 to Year 6. Within the workshops, the children learnt more about the origins of the CST principles and they discussed the meaning of each principle in more detail.  The children were able to talk about how they could apply the CST principles to their day to day lives.
