  • World Ocean Day

    Mon 08 Jun 2026

The children took part in a special learning experience for World Ocean Day (8th June), exploring the fascinating theme “Dive into the World of Manta Rays.” They discovered different types of manta rays and learnt about their unique features, including how each manta ray has its own special pattern and spots, much like a fingerprint. These markings help scientists to recognise and track individual manta rays in the wild.

The children also explored how scientists study and protect manta rays, understanding the important work being done to keep these gentle giants safe in our oceans. They learnt about the challenges manta rays face and why conservation is so important.

In addition, the children gained knowledge about how manta rays survive in the ocean, including what they eat, how they move gracefully through the water, and the environments they live in. They were amazed to learn about the impressive size manta rays can grow to, and how these incredible creatures are perfectly adapted to life in the sea.

Overall, it was an engaging and eye-opening experience that helped the children develop a deeper appreciation for marine life and the importance of protecting our oceans.

The children were amazed by the magnificent state carriages, including the dazzling Gold State Coach, and enjoyed seeing the beautifully groomed horses used in royal ceremonies. After the visit, they had a brilliant time playing together at St. James’s Park Playground. It was a fun and memorable day full of learning and excitement!

  • World Environment Day

    Fri 05 Jun 2026

Today, children in Years 1, 3 and 4 took part in an exciting and informative webinar to celebrate World Environment Day. During the session, they explored the different types of soil and learned why soil is so important for our planet and everyday life. They discovered how soil supports plant growth, helps produce the food we eat, and plays a vital role in the environment.

The children were particularly fascinated to learn about the tiny creatures that live in the soil, such as worms and insects, and how these organisms help to keep the soil healthy by breaking down materials and improving its structure.

Inspired by what they had learned, the children worked together to think about simple actions they can take to care for the soil and protect the environment. They came up with thoughtful pledges, such as reducing waste, looking after plants, and being mindful of how their actions impact the natural world.

It was a wonderful opportunity for the children to deepen their understanding of environmental issues and feel empowered to make a positive difference.
