  • Jubilee 2025 – Pilgrims of Hope Celebration Day

    Fri 21 Nov 2025

St. Joseph’s proudly joined the Jubilee 2025 Pilgrims of Hope Celebration Day - a joyful occasion to reflect on all we have achieved this year through our Catholic Social Teaching in Action initiatives, supporting charities and caring for our common home. The day began with a beautiful whole-school Mass at St. Mary & St. Ethelburga, celebrated by Father Paul, bringing our community together in faith and gratitude. Children then shared hope and kindness by writing heartfelt cards to local “Pilgrims of Hope,” including Barking Foodbank and Chestnut Court Care Home. In true Jubilee spirit, every child wore the vibrant Jubilee colours, filling the day with unity and joy. It was a wonderful celebration of faith, hope, and action - living out our mission to make a difference in our world.

  • Reception Local walk

    Thu 20 Nov 2025

Our Reception children explored our local area this week as part of our Autumn 2 Let's build topic! They enjoyed learning about the different buildings near our school, such as the library, leisure centre, theatre, and town hall. We then went to see the different shops at the local market and we bought some fruit from the green grocer's for snack time. Then we went to Abbey Green park to collect lots of leaves and autumn treasures to take back to school to make autumn collages. The children painted some wonderful pictures of the buildings they saw, including details such as the shapes of the windows and doors!

Across the school, each year group has participated in a range of activities for Remembrance Day, including writing acrostic poems, identifying the significance of the four different colours of poppies and designing a medal for a veteran. Early years enjoyed printing their own poppies using potatoes and moulding some from coloured play-dough too!

In honour of Remembrance Day, our year 6 history pupil voice took part in the local memorial. They joined a range of guests including the mayor, priests, policemen and armed forces to lay a wreath and pay their respects.

  • Odd Socks Day - Anti Bullying Week 2025

    Mon 10 Nov 2025

We kicked off Anti-Bullying Week 2025 in style with Odd Socks Day, celebrating the theme “Power for Good” and reminding everyone that it's great to be different! Across the school, children and staff proudly wore their brightest, boldest and most fabulous odd socks to show that we are all unique, special and valued just the way we are. The day was filled with smiles, laughter, and important conversations about kindness, respect, and standing up for others. Odd Socks Day is a fun way to start a serious message - that bullying has no place in our school and together we can use our voices and actions to make a positive difference. Stay tuned for more Anti-Bullying Week activities as we continue to explore how we can all use our Power for Good!

  • Eastbrookend Country Park - Year 2 trip

    Thu 06 Nov 2025

Year 2 had an absolutely fantastic day exploring the great outdoors at Eastbrookend Country Park! Our adventure began with pond dipping, where we discovered a fascinating variety of pond creatures — from wriggly water beetles to slippery pond snails! Next, we tried our hand at birdwatching, spotting graceful swans gliding across the water and cheerful coots paddling nearby. In the peaceful woodland area, we paused to close our eyes and listen carefully to the sounds of nature — birds singing, leaves rustling, and the gentle breeze whispering through the trees. To finish off our day, we had so much fun playing and laughing together in the playground before heading back to school with big smiles. What a magical day full of learning, laughter, and nature!

  • Black history Month

    Fri 31 Oct 2025

In celebration of Black History Month, each year group across the school has engaged in a range of activities to learn about influential black people in Britain (leaders, activists or pioneers who have shaped history) while also looking towards a future of continued empowerment, unity and growth. It has been truly eye opening to discover how recently in our history these and many other individuals have still been striving for true equality.

Each class created a portrait and wrote a biography about someone they found inspiring, to show how they helped shape Britain as it is today. They also had the opportunity to learn a song and dance from another country, with EYFS even hosting their own carnival!
