Year 6 trip to Museum of London Docklands
Fri 17 Oct 2025Today, our students embarked on an unforgettable school trip to the Museum of London Docklands! This immersive experience offered a wide range of learning opportunities, perfectly aligning with our current topic on the transatlantic slave trade. The museum's fascinating artefacts brought to life the rich yet complex history of the docklands, sparking inquisitive discussions among our students.
Furthermore, we also took a step back in time to explore wartime London, preparing our young historians for our upcoming topic on World War II in the summer term. The engaging exhibits allowed the students to develop a deeper understanding of the challenges faced during this tumultuous period.
One of the highlights of our visit was meeting George, who shared her family's story of Trinidadian music with us. This captivating narrative not only enriched our Black History Month learning but also opened our eyes to the vibrant cultural tapestry that shapes our community today.
Overall, the trip was an incredible success filled with excitement, insight, and inspiration. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Museum of London Docklands for their warm hospitality and enriching resources, which will undoubtedly enhance our students' knowledge and appreciation of history!
