  • Laudato Si' Week 2024

    Fri 24 May 2024

Laudato Si’ Week at St. Joseph’s has been a truly special event. Throughout the week, the children have been learning about Pope Francis’ encyclical, 'Laudato Si’ and reflecting on his message of caring for our common home. They have discussed the small steps they can take to contribute to the well-being of our planet. Topics covered included recycling and waste for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), sustainable farming and fair trade for Years 2, 3, and 4, and our responsibility towards the poor and future generations for Years 5 and 6. Additionally, we reviewed our whole school Laudato Si' Pledge to assess our compliance with our commitments.

  • Chestnut Court Care Home

    Thu 23 May 2024

Thank you to everyone in our school community who brought flower offerings for Our Lady during the May Procession. While some flowers still surround Mary in our school hall, other bouquets were donated to Chestnut Court Care Home in Dagenham. The care home extends their gratitude for our offerings. The residents enjoy participating in flower arranging, so our contributions were greatly appreciated!

  • Rosary Club

    Wed 22 May 2024

Throughout the month of May, we honour Mary, Our Mother, every week during Rosary Club. Children gather in our prayer room to set their own prayer intentions for the rosary. Together, we then recite one or two decades of the rosary. This provides a wonderful opportunity for the children to deepen their faith and pray as a community.

  • May Procession 2024

    Tue 21 May 2024

The month of May is dedicated to Our Blessed Lady, Mary, our Mother. During this time, Christians at both church and home offer heartfelt prayers and veneration to Mary.

Today, the children, staff, and parents of St. Joseph's celebrated Mary, our Mother, during our annual May Procession. Our Pupil Chaplains shared prayers they had written about Mary with the entire school, and a crown of flowers was placed on Mary's head. As part of the procession, each child had the opportunity to lay a flower at Mary's feet, each with a prayer intention attached, as a gesture of honour and devotion.

  • Year 6 End of SATs

    Fri 17 May 2024

Year 6 had a well-earned treat to mark the end of their SATs, when we had a visit to school from an ice cream van. The children of Year 6 have worked incredibly hard in the run-up and during SATs week, showing commendable resilience and a strong work ethic. We are extremely proud of their achievements this year and were pleased to see the enjoyment of a sweet treat on a beautiful, sunny Friday to celebrate. We now look forward to celebrating even more during Celebration Week after half term.

    Well done Year 6!!!
