  • Year 6 Class Assembly

    Fri 26 Jan 2024

Today saw Year 6 deliver their class assembly to their parents and caregivers. The subject of the assembly was safe internet usage. With Safer Internet Day coming up on 6th February, this gave Year the opportunity to display their knowledge of how to be responsible internet users. The children of Year 6 worked hard to collate their ideas and key points into an engaging role play that showed the perils of improper online behaviours compared to the ideal scenario. They also made a pledge through prayer, asking for protection and guidance when online. This was a fantastic and thought-provoking assembly that will help set Year 6 on the right path as they navigate their own digital lives.

  • Year 6 Science Museum Visit

    Wed 17 Jan 2024

The children of Year 6 experienced a breath-taking spectacle on their visit to the Science Museum in London, as the were wowed by the IMAX presentation of Antarctica 3D. Everyone settled in and made themselves comfortable with their popcorn, then were treated to jaw-dropping images and scenery of the vast Antarctic desert. There was an enormous amount of information to absorb during the film about the wildlife, the environment and climate change. This was a truly remarkable and memorable experience to start Year 6's Frozen Kingdoms project.

Following the film, Year 6 took the opportunity to explore the amazing technicians gallery. Here, the children were able to experience jobs in science at first-hand. There were many exciting industries included, and tasks for everyone to complete. Year 6 turned their hand at robotics, video and sound engineering, electronics, submarine exploration, pharmacy and medical laboratory work. This excellent experience highlighted the importance of all jobs in science.

    Mon 11 Dec 2023

To extend our learning during Parliament Week earlier this term, Year 6 had the wonderful opportunity to visit UK Parliament to learn first hand how bills are created and ascended. We started our journey with a film outlining the history of Parliament before entering the Palace of Westminster. Our guide took us on the route taken by the Monarch during the state opening of Parliament, through the robing room and into the House of Lords. Here, we heard about the Lords involvement in lawmaking and how bills are debated and passed. We then moved to the House of Commons and Westminster Hall. After our tour we took the opportunity to visit Whitehall, Downing Street, St James’ Park and Buckingham Palace to see first hand the connections between Parliament and the crown.
