Star of the Week - Nikolas          Kindness Ambassador - Olivia         Resilience - Prosper

This week was science week, which meant a range of fantastic activities took place. On Monday, the children engaged in a Lego workshop in which they had to follow instructions to complete four separate Lego challenges, however, the instructions were on a distance table, where they had to stay. This resulted in a relay of information and excellent teamwork! The children also acted out the lifecycle of a frog and participated in a food waste workshop, where they were all excited to discover you can put washed, seasoned potato peelings into the oven to make crisps. The children annotated and acted out some play scripts ahead of writing their own next week, and discussed the different stage directions and how they help the actors. In geography, Fern Tree class learned about the eruption of Mount Vesuvius, and how the damage also preserved the remnants of an ancient society for archaeologists to discover many centuries later. In maths, we worked hard all week on reading grams and kilograms on a variety of scales, initially a very tricky task. In art, the children worked with Mrs Maaka to draw images of our school, and they consolidated their triple jump techniques in PE. The children rounded off the week with a reflective RE lesson, in which they created art to represent the fruits of the spirit after learning about the beatitudes taught by Jesus in his Sermon on the Mount. A very busy, very productive, and very successful week. Well done Fern class!
