What a Fantastic Start to Learning this Week!

Fern class started the week off enthusiastic about their learning. In English, students were introduced to a new book called GORILLA. In this story, Hannah loved gorillas but never saw one in real life. Her toy gorilla grew into a real gorilla and they both went on an amazing adventure to the zoo. After enjoying the story, students sequenced the events using pictures. Later in the week, role-play was a unanimous breath of fresh air as students loved acting as different characters in the story. Students learnt the purpose of conjunctions and practised including coordinating and subordinating conjunctions in their writing.

A combination of pair work, independent practice and class discussions around our Maths topic of Place Value commenced this week. Students were introduced to the 'Number line to 1000' and how the value of intervals is calculated.

In R.E., our topic 'Home' explores different kinds of homes. Students had an enlightening discussion about what makes a house a home and as a class wrote rules that are important for a happy home.

A fantastic timeline was made by all students for our introduction to our History topic, 'Through the Ages'. This topic will explore the Stone, Bronze and Iron Ages, allowing students to learn how life was during these periods. Students got the opportunity to be archaeologists and dig for ancient artefacts, then concluded this activity by trying to date their findings based on their knowledge of tools and communities throughout pre-history.
