WOW WORK

Jenesha Brobbey

This week, in English, Year 6 have been writing an instructional text on how to escape the territory of a 'fantastic beast'. Year 6 impressed with their knowledge of imperative and modal verbs, and how to use them effectively in their writing.

In Maths, the children continued with their learning of the four operations - with a focus on division (short division, division using factors and long division). They all showed an awareness of how using multiple approaches can help and when to use them appropriately.

This week, our Science learning on the circulatory system took us to an investigation based on the hypothesis 'Children with lower resting heart rates can sprint faster than those with higher resting heart rates.' The children took an average resting heart rate before sprinting over the same distance to find a result to the hypothesis.

In Computing, Year 6 have been learning about networks and specifically the capability to work collaboratively with others on different network. To test how challenging this may be, the children were split into two groups and tasked with making a fact file  presentation about a country of their choosing. They were not permitted to speak to each other, only to use the chat function within Google Slides, to organise themselves and allocate tasks.
