Fresh off the half term, Cherry Tree Class jumped straight back into their learning with their new text, Pugs of the Frozen North. They acted out some of the scenes from the beginning of the story, and used the setting to practice writing expanded noun phrases, using ambitious vocabulary, in preparation for writing a setting description. The children were very excited to start using the column method for their addition and subtraction, and worked incredibly hard to ensure they understood how to exchange across their columns. In science, they worked together to identify the correct proportions of the different food groups, to explore a healthy, balanced diet. St Joseph's was lucky enough to have a visitor assembly from Rabbi Jordan this week, to tie in with our learning about Judaism, which the children all loved, especially the guitar led singing. Finally, in preparation for Remembrance Day, we prepared poppies to decorate our school cenotaph, an activity the children were very passionate about. What a busy first week back!
