On the last full day of term, Year 3 managed to squeeze in one last educational visit before the Christmas break. We visited Valence House to spend the day exploring what life was like in Iron Age Barking & Dagenham. The children made prehistoric clay pots, which they took home with them, examined the Dagenham Idol, a 4000 year old relic found in the Rainham marshes, and learned about prehistoric survival, and the harsh difficulties of making fire and thread from pulverised deer tendons. They examined artefacts through a telescope and had a fantastic time sharing all of their learning. The staff at Valence house rounded off a fantastic day by telling us that the children at St Joseph's had been a pleasure to teach. Year 3 have worked so hard this term and they should be incredibly proud of themselves and their efforts. We wish all of you a lovely, restful break, and look forward to seeing you all again in the Spring term! Merry Christmas!
