The final week of term has been very busy for Cherry Tree class. The children worked hard on metaphors and similes to include in their free verse poems about Gorilla, the book we have studied this half term, as a part of our English learning. We were lucky enough to have a school visit by three Metropolitan Police officers, who chatted to the children about their role in the community, how to stay safe, and the different ways they work with the public. The children were able to try on some different police kit, and even got to sit in the unmarked police car to operate the sirens! In addition, the children planned a scientific investigation for their innovate project, in which they looked into why we warm up for PE and the difference it makes to our athletic performance. They planned the tests, recorded the results and drew their own conclusions. Finally, the children had a blast at the school disco on Thursday evening. They danced tirelessly for the entire hour! It was a great end to the busty first term of school.
